I'll be back ... okay so i never really went away but the title will make sense further down :D

Around 4 years ago there was a few of us who blethered away regularly on the Red Bull F1 teams forums. There were a few competitions put on and that inspired me (with a few other influences) to make the Motorsport Dudes

Time has continued, faces have come and gone ... but every once in a while something works it's way onto your newsfeed or a blogpost and you think ... OH, I could do that.

So what has been the creative kick up the jacksie... THIS circulating again after Toto Wolff took a tumble off his bike and ended up with metal holding his wrist back together with the #Totonator tag

OOOOOHHHHH .... i have silver yarn said the wee seed that popped into the brain ... and in between the other ridiculous amount of projects i already have started I felt it was a great idea to just add another one to them :D

So for the last couple of days, I've taken the odd few minutes here and there and come up with

Now bear in mind this isnt even all of them. Sproglet2 got them piled on his bed in the pre-xmas tidying and asked for a photo to be taken. He is most pleased with his ever expanding collection

Right... I think a wee definition change to here is needed.

I have been terrible at posting... no I have ... so going by some of the more recent posts I have done I think I'll now have this to include the things for my own two not-so-teeny dudes as, let's face it, most of the things I make go to them ... be it knit, crochet, baking or some other craft.

So fingers crossed I'll get more things up regularly again... I do have a few things backlogged that I can add in, and maybe a freebie pattern or two

No i havn't forgotton this site, just been a tad busy making things for the massive run of birthdays and xmas upcoming. I do have a couple of things i can finish off and pop up soon, and a couple of requests to get done as well...i WILL be back

I have broken my thumbnail...right into the quick...and it's a tad nippy (cue lots of colourful expletives).

Anyway, i can still crochet and knit, but pushing the needle through while sewing up hurts like h*ll. So i have about 3 and a half little things made...a Starkiller from The Force Unleashed 2 and some more Crobots (CROchet roBOTS) are in the works...and a couple more ideas sprung to mind over the last few days.

So don't worry...i WILL be back (oh, another idea just popped into mind), and please feel free to comment and make suggestions you would like to see and i'll see what i can do.

What is "Amigurumi"?

Okay...basics first I'd better explain what the long word means. We all love Wikipedia and here is what it says...

Amigurumi (編みぐるみ^?, lit. knitted stuffed toy ) is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll. Amigurumi are typically animals, but can include artistic renderings or inanimate objects endowed with anthropomorphic features.

There is no real reason to them other than being there to look cute...generally with a head much bigger than "normal" proportions with a tiny body and limbs. Inanimate objects often get made too, carrots,cakes,clouds,raindrops...the list is endless...and all with eyes and mouth to add to that massive cuteness factor. If an amigurumi makes you thing "aaawww" then it has generally produced the right response.
They are usually made in single crochet, using a hook a size or two smaller than would normally be used for the yarn thinkness.

I have been able to knit and crochet since i was about 5 years old...Granny taught...which is now into 30 years worth now, altho I probably didn't do too much over the years it was about 4 years ago when i was pregnant with my first that i got back into it regularly, and in the past year my Husband and I stopped smoking which has made me even more prolific LOL. I've always liked making small and colourful things so gravitating towards making amigurumi is no surprise.

There is an almost unending amount of free patterns online, and many great books filled with far too many cute things to be allowed :-). If I've followed a pattern I'll try and link to find it into the posts.

Anyway...that's enough heavy blethering (scottishism for nonsense talk) for the moment. Next some pics of my recent makes

The title will mean more once i post some things.

A very recent obsession with teeny crochet things has developed...amigurumi to give them their "proper" name lol.

I will sort out photos etc soon.
